Despite this being legal for over a year, things have been slow to get going. Other provinces are making do with single-game betting being available on lottery platforms. The results of this opening up will mean different things in different provinces. Ontario clearly has a thirst for its market to be open, which has meant that big players in the industry have already put their stamp here.

On November 5, 2023, the province of Ontario published the latest budget detailing plans to launch a regulated online market place for online gaming/gambling.
